Adjusting to the New Normal

I don't need to say it, that life as we knew it has changed. The hope is that we can go back to the way it was, but I think it's safe to assume that things are going to be different for the foreseeable future.

I struggle a lot with things feeling unpredictable, or new. I thrive in structure, and I cope with anxiety by researching changes so I know what to expect. And I think I'm not alone.

In that spirit, I want to introduce to you the new SHS Pandemic Policies. Things will be different, and it will take both of us to protect each other's health and safety. But maybe if we know what the new strategies will look like, we can all feel a bit more secure in navigating this "New Normal."

GUEST EXPECTATIONS

  • If you have a fever, any current symptoms of COVID-19, have had any symptoms of COVID-19 within the past 14 days, are caring for/living with someone who has these symptoms, are living with someone who is currently quarantined, or have been in close contact with anyone who has the above symptoms (or who has been diagnosed with COVID-19,) your appointment will need to be rescheduled WITHOUT EXCEPTION.  All cancellation or rebooking policies/fees will be waived.

  • All guests will be required to wait outside of the building for their appointment, keeping at least 6 feet from any other patrons.  Guests will be granted entry from staff by waiving, indicating that the studio has been cleansed and disinfected, and that no other patrons are in the studio space.

  • The building lobby is closed until further notice.

  • Please arrive to the appointment alone. No other people are allowed in the building except for the guest receiving services and the service provider. Anyone accompanying guests will need to wait in the vehicle for the duration of the appointment (this includes children).

  • Masks will be required to gain entry to the building, and MUST be worn for the duration of the appointment in order to receive services.  Masks are available for purchase from Style Haus Salem if you do not have one.

  • Guest's temperature will be taken via digital thermometer in order to gain entry. Any reading higher than 99.5 degrees will result in the need for the appointment to be rescheduled.

  • Guests will be asked a series of health-related questions in order to gain entry to the building.  Your name, address, phone number, email address, and date/time of your service will be recorded per OHA guidelines for contact tracing purposes. Answers will need to be provided with utmost honesty and integrity.

  • Guests will be escorted to a sink and asked to wash your hands using soap and hot water for 20 seconds per CDC guidelines.  Gloves are available upon request.

  • Guests are welcome to bring a beverage to the appointment, but it must be consumed by straw and your mask can only be moved to the side to accommodate the straw and then promptly replaced.

  • Staff may ask guests to unloop one side of the face mask during the appointment for color placement and/or cut detailing. Guests will need to hold the mask stable over the mouth until asked to place the loop back over the ear. Please be aware masks will likely become stained with hair color or lightener, become wet due to shampooing/conditioning. SHS cannot avoid the possibility of face coverings becoming damaged. By consenting to the service, guests are consenting to possible face mask damage and/or discoloration.

  • Staff will ask guests to use the provided hand sanitizer before using the POS system.

STYLE HAUS SALEM EXPECTATIONS

  • Staff will be checking their temperature daily for monitoring.  Any result higher than 99.5 degrees will require all appointments to be rescheduled for the day.

  • Staff will be wearing a mask at all times.  Aprons will be changed between each guest and hands will be washed per CDC guidelines.

  • Studio space will be cleansed and disinfected between each guest.  All non-porous surfaces (salon chair, station, shampoo bowl and chair) will be cleansed and disinfected using High Level Barbicide, certified to kill viruses including HIV.  All sharp implements will be cleansed and disinfected using High Level Barbicide.  All soft implements (brushes, combs, clips, etc.) will be cleansed using Low Level Barbicide (per State Board guidelines) and stored in air-tight containers.  All towels/capes/drapes will be laundered using the hot water and detergent, and dried on the highest heat setting.  All towels/capes/drapes are single-use only.

  • Upon entry to the studio, guests will observe staff washing their hands with hot water and soap for 20 seconds per CDC guidelines.

  • All paper items will be removed from the building.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available for all guests.

If you'd like to refer back to this list before your appointment, don't worry! I've made this info super easy to find with the new Pandemic Policies page right in the main menu of the website. There is other very important information on that page regarding the SHS Cancellation Policy and what that looks like in the New Normal.

Questions? Concerns? Have some ideas? Need additional information? You can always reach me at cortney@stylehaussalem.com. I'd love to chat more with you about how I can help support you through all of this and make your experience at the studio as beautiful and wonderful as ever.
