Thank you for coming by and giving me an opportunity to introduce myself.
Hi, I'm Cortney Pinion, it's so great to have you here!
I've been working behind the chair in Salem, Oregon since 2009. Although I'm originally from LA, I spent almost 20 years living all around the Portland area. While I don't miss the traffic, the foodie in me misses the restaurants!
Where is your favorite Salem-area spot to go?
Hairdressing is a passion I cultivated later in life...though I've always loved doing it, this is actually my second career. I graduated from the University of Portland with a B.A. in Psychology and was a social worker for over 10 years in a wide variety of settings. If you ever wonder why I'm easy to talk to, that's likely the reason.
I've always been in the business of helping people, and with my background I truly understand how important it is to make sure someone's outsides match the image they have for themselves. My job, first and foremost, is to listen. My skill and creativity are there to execute the plan we've created together, to help you get closer to the goals you have for yourself.
Two of the many aspects of hairdressing I love so much are the constant innovations and opportunities for creativity! If I'm not traveling around the US attending seminars, I'm scrolling though my social media feed soaking in the latest trends and the newest techniques that will make my work that much better.
Did you know that I'm also a blogger?
Be sure to check back several times a month! Every post (I hope) is informative and written with a little confessional, tongue-in-cheek humor.
I've also been cultivating my cooking skills and I've been sharing some of my most favorite recipes on the blog -- most are vegan/vegetarian and gluten free friendly. I get such a kick when my guests tell me they've tried them!
Confession: despite my outgoing nature and dry sense of humor, I'm a raging introvert. No, really.
I love spending time with my family (human and 4-legged), we get up to all sorts of crazy adventures .
My ultimate Best Day Ever is either seeing my favorite bands live in concert, or traveling somewhere so I can snorkel with tropical fish and sea turtles.
